CITY OF COUNCIL BLUFFS: The Council Bluffs Police Department has received several phone scam reports

Scam wordcloud

City of Council Bluffs issued the following announcement on Feb. 28.

The Council Bluffs Police Department has received several phone scam reports. These calls appear to be coming from the Council Bluffs Police Department, and the caller is claiming to be a member of the CBPD. Sometimes they have your name, address, date of birth, phone number, etc. The scammers are demanding money in forms of pre-paid cards. These are all scams! The Council Bluffs Police Department, or any other agency, will not call you asking for money or pre-paid cards.

If you answer a call, ask for specific information from the caller, including a call-back number. Tell the caller you will check the information and call them back. Once you disconnect, call the Council Bluffs Police Department directly, at 712-328-4715, to make a report of the scam.
