City of Council Bluffs issued the following announcement on May. 1.
All licenses issued by the Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board (PMSB) expire on June 30, 2020. This includes individual licenses, and the PMSB contractor license along with the contractor registration from Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). May 1, 2020, is the first day that these licenses can begin to renew.
On March 30, the PMSB issued guidance related to CEUs and testing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The PMSB may also issue further guidance related to renewal dates and the related timelines. Any further guidance related to renewal dates and the related timelines is not expected until mid-May.
All individuals and contractors will receive an email notification about this renewal. The notification will contain the directions and links needed to complete this renewal. It is very highly recommended that this renewal process be completed online.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of Lucas Building staff, including PMSB office staff, are currently working remotely until at least May 15. Even after May 15, PMSB office staff may not be back in the office or at full capacity. Individuals CANNOT currently get in-person assistance with their PMSB renewal applications at the Lucas State Office Building.
Even though most staff are working remotely, they are still able to process applications and help with any related issues. Please be very patient with staff and know that they are working hard to process applications and help as best they can in these challenging times. The various contact numbers and sites for assistance will be in the renewal notification emails.
For now, know that the renewal period will open on May 1, and there is staff available to process applications and help with any related issues.
