A 24-hour online fundraising event held May 20 has raised $811,021 for 109 nonprofits that serve Pottawattamie County.

“Pottawattamie Gives!” had a record-breaking fundraiser in this its sixth year of operation, said the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (PCCF) on its website. The PCCF is a partner in “Pottawattamie Gives!” which the Omaha Community Foundation organizes and is held with “Omaha Gives!”

A tax-exempt public charity, the PCCF invests and administers charitable funds that “individuals, families, businesses and organizations” create, its website stated.

Last year’s “Pottawattamie Gives!” fundraiser raised $591,862, making this year’s event a record-breaking year, the PCCF said.

“This day of giving is a metro area-wide celebration of the good work our essential nonprofit organizations do and the impact they create,” Donna Dostal, president and CEO of the PCCF said, according to its website. “The generosity of our community is truly shining through, and we at the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation want to thank everyone for coming out in full-force to support our nonprofits.”
