Library stock 01

Lied Public Library issued the following announcement on May 26.

Starting June 1st the library will be open on Mondays (9.30am-8pm), Wednesdays (9.30am-6), and Fridays (9.30am-5pm) only with the following guidelines:

• Stay home if you are sick.

• Items are due June 8th unless you contact the library to renew, if possible.

• Staff and the public are encouraged to use social distancing when possible, wash your hands, wear face mask and clean and disinfect common spaces and high touched areas.

• No more than 40 people in the library at any given time.

• Please limit your visits to the library to under 1-hour to allow the library to serve as many people as possible

• The library should not be a gathering place for large groups

• Returned materials will be quarantined for 7 days and cleaned before being made available on the shelf.

• Library laptops will be available, but our computer lab will be closed to accommodate social distancing and allow for ease of cleaning. There will be a time limit of 1-hour per day on the computer to allow access to the most people. Computers may be reserved ahead of time.

• All children (ages 7 and under) must be accompanied by an adult while in the building.

• Library TO GO curbside/locker pickup will be available. Those especially vulnerable to illness are encouraged to use this service.

• No in-person programs. Online programming is available.

• No in-library activities (puzzles, games, makerspace, etc.) will be available. Games however still be checked out and will be quarantined for 7 days and cleaned before being made available on the shelf.

• No meeting room reservations/access until at least June 15th

This plan will be implemented for at least two weeks before re-evaluating services and days open. The library could be directed to close again from a state agency or local public health agency at any time.

Our summer reading program will still happen, but in a new manner! Participants can fill out reading logs and complete activities online through ReadSquared [http://clarinda.readsquared.com/] or on paper.

Please contact library director Andrew Hoppmann with questions at 542-2416 or andrew@clarindapubliclibrary.org.
