Southwest Iowa Families is hoping to secure a grant that would pay for a new center, KMA Land reported.
The Clarinda City Council met over Southwest Iowa Families’ application for funding for a new location in Clarinda’s downtown area.
The organization, which provides therapy and mental health counseling, along with other resources for families, currently calls 215 E. Washington home.
Southwest Iowa Families’ Clinical Director Bernie Wagoner told KMA Land that the current location no longer fits the organization’s needs.
"Our case loads have grown significantly here at the office – around 30 to 40% over the last three years," Wagoner said, according to KMA Land. "We've been happy with our current building, but we're kind of busting at the seams needing space for more staff. We have staff that are doubled-up and even tripled-up in office space here. We definitely have a need to move to a different location."
The entire project costs $2.2 million. Southwest Iowa Families is also looking to CBDG to help it secure funding.
