Democrat Jennifer Pellant’s bid for House District 16 ended in defeat to Republican Brent Siegrist.
Pellant acknowledged that she was not expecting defeat and went on to thank her supporters.
“The results weren’t what we hoped for tonight, but I can’t say enough about how proud I am of this campaign. Everyone who volunteered their time, donated, and voted for us -- it is all appreciated more than you will ever know,” read a post on her Facebook page.
She went on to say her efforts were not going to be stopped by the defeat.
“Working families in Iowa still need our advocacy, and our heart, and a voice, and we will keep working to give that to them in whatever way is next!” she said.
