Shenandoah Chamber and Industry Association issued the following announcement on Nov. 3.
Wed. Nov. 11, noon to 3 p.m. Shenandoah Chamber is honoring Denny and Darlene Howard of Howards Clothing and Sporting Goods , a staple in downtown Shenandoah for nearly 70 years. The store which has served Southwest Iowa through generations of athletes will close end of day Nov. 28th for their retirement. Due to health concerns a chamber coffee is not possible so a drive by honk or phone call to honor the couple will let them know your thanks for all the years of service. You may also send a card or flowers to Howards Clothing and Sporting Good, 600 W. Sheridan Avenue, Shenandoah, IA 51601, 712-246-2231. SCIA hopes to stage some student athletes outside the store in sport uniforms to remind everyone of the event. A clearance sale is going on now thru Nov. 28th. Thank them with a purchase or two to honor Denny and Darlene and Denny’s parents who started the store in 1951, Jim and Gladys Howard.
