CITY OF COUNCIL BLUFFS: Winter Waste Tips

Md zu720kla0nej

City of Council Bluffs issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.

As winter closes in on us, here are some reminders for ensuring your curbside waste is collected appropriately during the cold and snowy months ahead.

  1. Set out all your materials by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Remember, there are no set times for collection. Garbage and recycling set out after 7 a.m. may not be collected.
  2. Yard waste collection ended November 30th.  If you still have yard waste for disposal, you can bring it to the Recycling Center for a nominal disposal fee.
  3. Residents need to clean and maintain a place free of snow and ice for their garbage and recycling containers.  Containers or garbage bags on top of or behind snow banks will not be collected.
  4. Garbage and recycling must be placed within 5 feet of the traveled roadway with a path wide enough to accommodate collection and the waste containers.
  5. Garbage is limited to the following containers designed to hold solid waste:
    1. One City-approved 95-gallon Poly-cart (weighing 220 pounds or less)
    2. Or three, 32-gallon cans (weighing 60 pounds or less)
    3. Or three, 32-gallon bags (weighing 30 pounds or less)
  6. Missed collection can be reported by calling Waste Connections at 712-256-2288.
  7. Collection may be postponed due to inclement weather. Please check Facebook and our website for updates.
