Montgomery County Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.

Montgomery County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) has received a shipment of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and began vaccinating employees on December 23, 2020.

MCMH has a tiered system in place to vaccinate employees who are most likely to have contact with COVID-19 patients.  However, MCMH hopes to have enough doses to vaccinate all employees who wish to receive the vaccine.

The vaccine is packaged in 10-dose vials and all 10 doses must be used within 6 hours of opening the vial.  It is critical that vaccinations be schedule strategically so that not a single dose of the limited supply is wasted.

At this time, MCMH is only allowed to vaccinate employees.  Vaccines for MCMH patients, and other members of the public, will be distributed by Montgomery County Public Health, as they become available.
