Atlantic Iowa Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement.

Name: Volunteering - Cass County COVID-19 Mobile Food For All

Date: June 21, 2021 - July 26, 2021

Event Description:

When: Every Monday through the end of July (exception: there will be no program on July 5. That week the program will be on Tuesday, July 6.) The following volunteer assistance is needed every week: Pack food: 10:30 AM – noon. Inside the air-conditioned Community Center. This work involves carrying bags of up to 20 pounds, bending, walking, and lifting. (10 volunteers/ week) Ride SWITA busses and deliver food: 1:00-5:00 PM. This involves getting on and off the bus multiple times and carrying food to front doors. (4 volunteers/ week) Deliver food to homes outside of Atlantic with your own vehicle: 1:00-4:00 PM Volunteer will be provided with a list of addresses. Gas reimbursement is available. (3-5 volunteers/ week) Pick up cardboard and drive to Cass County Landfill recycling center: 5:00-5:30 PM A large vehicle or pick-up that can strap down cardboard is needed. (1 volunteer/ week). Help pack and distribute food to drive-up participants: 2:30-5:30 PM (3-5 volunteers/ week) To volunteer: To sign up to volunteer with Cass County COVID-19 Mobile Food For All, contact Cass County Wellness Coordinator Brigham Hoegh at bhoegh@iastate.edu or 712-249-5870 (texts welcome). What is the commitment? Volunteers are welcome to sign up to help every week through the end of the program, or for just a day or two.
