Myrtue Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement.

On June 23, 2021, the following healthcare organizations collaboratively released a statement encouraging everyone age 12 and older to receive the COVID-19 vaccine:

Some data to consider:

• Currently, 64.1% of Shelby County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19, most are fully vaccinated.
• 59.7% of all COVID-19 vaccine age-eligible Shelby County residents (12 and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
• As of July 15th, 99% of those hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 are unvaccinated individuals as reported by the Director of the National Institutes of Health.

Myrtue Medical Center joins the list of healthcare leader organizations above in recommending that everyone who has not yet become vaccinated to strongly consider it. The vaccine has shown to be both safe and effective at preventing COVID-19. If you have questions about the vaccine, please talk to your healthcare provider.
