A constant presence on Iowa PBS's weekly public affairs program is set to retire next month.
Veteran political journalist David Yepsen has hosted Iowa Press since 2017.
He was a frequent guest panelist on the show for about 40 years before that.
“Our @IowaPBS host @DavidYepsen is retiring from @IowaPress in September,” Andrew Batt, senior producer at Iowa PBS, tweeted on Aug. 24. “He taped more than 200 Iowa Press shows, debates and specials since his IA return in 2017. But was on thousands of political programs at IPTV/IPBN since 1970s”
Yepsen will host his last episode on Friday, Sept. 10, Iowa News Now reported.
Yepsen, who will return for Iowa PBS political specials and other future broadcasts, admitted to the station that coming to the decision to retire wasn’t easy.
"This show has been a part of my life for many years and it's hard to leave all the great people here at the network," he said according to Iowa PBS. "Iowa PBS is an important force that helps hold Iowa together by providing everyone with educational and cultural opportunities free of charge. Iowa Press also plays an important role providing voters with information they need to make intelligent decisions about the issues we face. It's been an honor to be a part of it all."
