Clarinda Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

66th Annual SW Iowa Band Jamboree

When: Sat, October 2, 9am – 8pm

Where: Clarinda, IA 51632, USA

Description

Clarinda’s longest running event is co-sponsored by the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce, Clarinda Community Schools and the City of Clarinda. Every year it draws over 50 High School and Middle School bands from Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska which are judged in both parade & field marching in the daylong competition. The free parade starts at 9:00 a.m. around the downtown square with over 50 bands being expected to participate. 

The afternoon field activities start at 12:45 p.m. with the flag raising ceremony conducted by the American Legion Sergy Post No. 98 at the Clarinda High School Football Stadium.  In addition, the Clarinda High School band will perform an exhibition show followed by the afternoon field competition.
