The No. 1 ranked University of Iowa field hockey team recently traveled to the East Coast to face two teams in the top 10 of the Big Ten Conference.
Iowa was victorious over No. 6 ranked Rutgers 2-1 on Oct. 1 and, on Oct. 3, the Hawkeyes defeated No. 7 ranked Maryland 2-1.
"No. 1 in the nation, No. 1 in our hearts," the University of Iowa field hockey team wrote in an Oct. 1 Twitter post. "No. 1 Iowa Downs No. 6 Rutgers."
Following the two wins, the Hawkeyes improve to 12-0 and remain undefeated.
The Hawkeyes will next head to Michigan to face Michigan State on Oct. 8 and Central Michigan on Oct. 10.
"No. 1 Iowa Heads to Great Lakes State for 2 Games," the University of Iowa field hockey team wrote in an Oct. 6 Twitter post.
This is head coach Lisa Cellucci’s eighth season with the Hawkeye field hockey program, according to University of Iowa Athletics. She has participated in 261 Iowa victories and led the team to the Final Four for in 2020. It was the team's first time in the Final Four since 2008, and its 12th time in the Final Four in the team's history.
