The University of Iowa has released the full wrestling schedule for the 2021-2022 season.
"NEW! Iowa's full 2021-22 wrestling schedule is out and it's loaded with big-time matchups and tourneys -- and a showdown with longtime rival Okie State in a very interesting venue," Go Iowa Awesome wrote in a Sept. 29 Twitter post.
The team will travel all over the U.S. this season, according to Go Iowa Awesome. Out of the 22 matches in the schedule, only seven will take place in Iowa.
The first match for Iowa wrestling will be against Princeton on Nov. 19, which Go Iowa Awesome predicts will "be a pretty easy tune-up for Iowa out of the gate."
Go Iowa Awesome predicts that the rest of the season will be pretty difficult, with the rest of the scheduled dual meet league opponents ranking in the InterMat's preseason Top 25. The season also includes three duals against non-league opponents teams that are currently ranked in the Top 25 as well.
The dual with rival Oklahoma State is scheduled to take place Feb. 12, 2022, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
"Iowa-Oklahoma State at Globe Life Field on February 12. Sounds like they’re trying to pair it with an international freestyle dual for the U.S., too," Cody Goodwin of the Des Moines Register wrote in a Sept. 27 Twitter post.
