In a fight to the finish on the hardwood, Kansas had the advantage of scoring last, eking out a 62-61 win over Iowa State in a match-up of top 25 men's college basketball teams Tuesday night.

“Really proud of our guys’ effort, our competitiveness,” Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger said, as reported by the Cyclones’ website

Both teams were trying to rebound from losses, and the Cyclones had control much of the first half, taking a 33-31 lead into the break.

Although the tables turned in the second half, with the Jayhawks taking the lead early in the second frame and holding on to it most of that half, Iowa State played scrappy ball and there were four lead changes in the final 38 seconds.

One of those changes came when Caleb Grill sunk a jumper with 38 seconds left, giving the Cyclones a 59-58 edge.

Ochai Agbaji got the lead back for the Jayhawks, sinking two from the charity stripe with 25 seconds, giving Kansas a 60-59 lead.

Izaiah Brockington followed that with a jumper for Iowa State with 18 seconds left, giving the Cyclones a 61-60 advantage.

But Dajuan Harris’ driving layup with about eight seconds on the clock sealed the "W" for Kansas, with the final score.

The biggest lead of the game was 9 points, when the Cyclones had a 19-10 advantage.

Three Iowa State players were in double figures, with Brockington leading the pack with 17. Gabe Kalsheur and Tyrese Hunter added 14 and 12, respectively.
