Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds appointed Jennifer Benson Bahr as a district court judge for Judicial District 4. Bahr brings a variety of past judicial experience to the role.
Jennifer Benson Bahr is from Crescent, Iowa.
“Today I appointed Jennifer Benson Bahr as a district court judge in Judicial District 4,” Reynolds said in a post to her official Twitter account Jan. 14.
The counties included in Judicial District 4 are Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie and Shelby. Bahrs has an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and a Juris Doctorate from Drake University School of Law. Prior to this post, Bahr served as an associate judge in District 4, according to a release from the governor's office.
Other roles in which Bahr has served include assistant Pottawattamie County attorney and also the Webster and Humboldt County attorney, according to a the release. The retirement of District Court Judge James S. Heckerman is what created the vacancy for Bahr. Bahr was originally appointed to the bench on May 3, 2019, according to the Iowa Judicial Branch website.
Bahr received further experience prior to her appointment to the bench by serving as a law clerk for the 2nd Judicial District in 2005 and 2006.
