There’s a new ownership team now in control at Fast Break Sports Iowa, though the new leaders insist when it comes to serving the community much of the game-plan will remain the same.

“I've been around a lot of small communities and different things that we've done to bring economic development to it and to support those communities,” Fast Break representative Brian Willett, who was accompanied by Matt Cumro, said at a March 27 gathering of the Council Bluffs City Council. “And I specifically have a lot of passion around making sure the next generation gets involved in business and creating opportunities for them. I think last I looked up, there's 76 employees of fast break sports Iowa here as we're coming in and I'm just excited to look at what are the opportunities we can do to grow that staff and continue to get the next generation involved in the business and in the useful because there's a lot of a lot of great service that happens from that.”

Coming from a basketball background, where he played in college before entering the world of coaching, Cumro told the crowd he is excited to be able to dedicate his time and energy into youth programs and coaching in a small community like the one he grew up in.

Later, the two touched on how they envision the community being able to make better use of the facility, adding that they plan to talk with schools and the local YMCA as part of a plan to be more proactive in terms of scheduling and hosting events.

In the end, council members expressed excitement over the level of outreach and communication being put forth by the new owners. They added they were also impressed by the new policy being established, where big sports clubs who wanted to rent out the entire facility multiple times a week were sometimes being turned away so that the facility could be available for more community members.
