Gov. Kim Reynolds has announced that 46 award winners won the Coronavirus Relief Fund Earn and Learn Grant.
The total of the grants reached $5.85 million in much-needed funds. The awards will fund plans that advance the production and expansion of short-term training programs.
Specific grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 were awarded to nonprofits that submitted project proposals. Applicants ranged from adult training providers, small businesses, post-secondary institutions and unions that have 50 or fewer employees.
“The Earn and Learn Grant program will lead to training opportunities in high-demand occupations helping Iowans find good-paying, family-supporting careers,” Reynolds said in a press release. “These funds may be used toward tuition, training equipment, books, tools, work-related supplies, wrap-around supports, as well as administrative costs. I am proud to announce these awards to 46 innovative projects with the potential of serving 1,800 Iowans whose employment has been affected by this pandemic.”
