Iowa hospitals are currently seeing a record number of COVID-19-positive patients as state officials confirm that data shows there are more COVID-19 patients filling hospitals now compared to any other point this year.
KCRG reported that as of Sept. 22, there are more people hospitalized in Iowa for COVID-19 than ever in 2021, with 638 patient hospitalized.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported that 10,967 people had tested positive for the virus in the seven days prior to Sept. 22, averaging about 1,566.7 people per day, according to KCRG.
Radio Iowa reported that the number of COVID-19 patients in Iowa hospitals had increased 10% over the week leading up to Sept. 22.
Some 25% of COVID-19 patients are in intensive care units, Radio Iowa reported.
KCRG reported that there have been almost 3.5 million individual doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state.
According to Radio Iowa, 64.5% of adults in the state are fully vaccinated and the vaccinated rate is 83% for Iowa residents over the age of 65.
